Flower of Evil

Flower of Evil is a South Korean television series starring Lee Joon-gi, Moon Chae-won, Jang Hee-jin, and Seo Hyun-woo. It aired on tvN every Wednesday and Thursday from July 29 to September 23, 2020 and streamed internationally on iQIYI, Viki and ViuTV with multi-languages subtitles. Lee and Moon have previously starred in Criminal Minds, and it was Lee's return to television after two years.

Plot

Baek Hee sung (Lee Joon Gi) is a man who hides his identity and past from his wife Cha Ji won (Moon Chae Won), a detective. On the surface, they appear to be the perfect family: a loving couple with a beautiful daughter who adores her parents. Cha Ji Won and her colleagues begin investigating a series of unexplained murders and is confronted with the reality that her seemingly perfect husband may be hiding something from her

It is a story of Do Hyun Soo (Lee Joon-gi), the son of a psychopathic serial killer, Do Min Seok, (Choi Byung Mo) who allegedly committed suicide before being caught by the police. The villagers thought his son, Do Hyun Soo, assisted in the killings and so when the village head was later found dead, Do Hyun Soo was assumed to be the culprit. This caused him and his sister, Do Hae Su, to flee town and be separated from then on.

Years pass and Do Hyun Soo now lives under the name of Baek Hee Sung, is married to Cha Ji Won and they have a daughter together. He keeps his past identity a secret from his wife, a police officer. Things get complicated when a murder case which resembles the serial killings performed by Do Min Seok 18 years ago happens. Cha Ji Won soon finds out the true identity of her husband, but hides her knowledge from Do Hyun Soo and her colleagues. A series of complex emotional turmoil ensues because Do Hyun Soo thinks he is incapable of feelings yet what he shares with his wife seems real.

Through further investigations and plot progression, it is revealed that Do Hyun Soo was not the killer of the village head then nor involved in the murder case now. Evidence of Do Min Seok having an accomplice is revealed, which leads to the discovery of a human trafficking syndicate associated with the duo's serial killings. Do Hyun Soo seeks to find the accomplice even when on the run from the police after his identity has been found out.
